Dear Working Mamas,
Listen up because we're about to have a short heart-to-heart about self-care. You know that feeling when you're running on empty, trying to juggle work, kids, and a million other things? When you want to curl up in a ball and cry? Yeah, we've all been there. But here's the thing: self-care isn't just about pampering yourself (although that's definitely part of it). It's about taking care of yourself so that you can be the finest mom and employee you can be.
Now, we know what you're thinking: "But I don't have time for self-care! I'm too busy!" And to that, we say: you're exactly the person who needs self-care the most. Here's why:
It reduces stress and prevents burnout. Being a working mom is no joke; if you don't care for yourself, you will burn out faster than a candle in a hurricane. Taking time for self-care can reduce stress and prevent burnout, which will help you be more productive and focused at home.
It helps your overall health and well-being. Self-care is not just about pampering yourself; it's about taking care of your physical, emotional, and mental health. By prioritizing self-care, you can prevent illness, manage stress, and improve your overall well-being.
It allows you to be present and focused on your kids. When you're not taking care of yourself, it's difficult to be present and focused on your kids. By prioritizing self-care, you can be more patient and attentive with your kids, improving your relationship with them.
Now, you may be wondering how to prioritize self-care without feeling guilty. Here are a few tips:
Make self-care a priority. It's easy to put self-care on the back burner when you're busy, but it's critical to prioritise it. Set aside time each day or week specifically for self-care, and stick to that schedule.
Don't try to do it all. It's impossible to do everything, and trying to do so will only lead to burnout. Instead, focus on the things most important to you and let go of those that aren't.
Ask for help. You don't have to do everything on your own. Ask your partner, friends, or family members for help with tasks or childcare so that you can take some time for yourself.
So, mamas, don't be afraid to take some time for yourself. Your kids and your job will thank you for it.
Sincerely,
Eva.
